Norcold Refrigerator Recall

N260 and N300 Models:
Norcold has voluntarily recalled the models used in the Rialta motorhome, which potentially could have a safety defect involving stress corrosion cracking in brass swivel nuts on the their pressure tap components. A significant crack could potentially cause propane gas leakage during gas operation of these units:

Models – Built – Serial Numbers (found on the ID Label inside the refrigerator)

  N260/N260.3 – April, 1998-August, 1999 – lower than 738527

  N300/N300.3 – April, 1998-August, 1999 – lower than 738626

This should affect Rialta Model years 1995 through 1999 and possibly some vehicles in the 2000 model year. Persons owning one of these models should:

  1. Turn the manual shut-off valve to OFF and operate it only on AC or DC power until the defect is repaired. (No gas leak can occur during AC or DC operation.)

  2. Contact a Dealer/Service Center to arrange a service date as soon as possible. A remedy kit, and the labor to install it, is free to the consumer.

  3. Call Norcold at 1-800-767-9101: with any questions; to obtain the location of the nearest Norcold Service Center; if the Dealer/Service Center fails or is unable to remedy this defect without charge or unable to service the refrigerator within a reasonable time.

Full information is available at the Norcold website at Norcold Recalls (bottom of page)

Samsung Microwave Recall

(26, Apr, 2004 / SEC)

SAMSUNG, NHTSA Announce Expansion Of Recall Of Microwave Ovens In RVS

Mt. Arlington, NJ - April 28, 2004 - Samsung Electronics, in cooperation with the United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), announced an expansion of its recall of microwave ovens that were installed in recreational vehicles (RVs) sold in the US during the past 3 years. Samsung has determined that some of these microwave ovens may present a safety hazard due to a defective part that may cause them to begin operation unassisted and result in smoke or fire.

Samsung will repair the ovens free of charge for consumers. In the meantime, consumers who own RVs with the affected ovens should unplug the microwaves - or, if that is not possible, leave the microwave door ajar, which will prevent the oven from operating. As a general safety precaution, consumers should never store items in microwave ovens or leave items in the ovens after use.

Samsung is currently working with more than 150 RV manufacturers nationwide to arrange to have the microwave ovens repaired for consumers free of charge. Repairs will be handled by Registered Service Centers. Customers may remove the Oven and carry it in to an Authorized Service Center, or, tow their RV to the Service Center for onsite service. Service arrangements and more information may be obtained as follows:
